STATEMENTS BY TUDJMAN AND KINKEL AFTER THEIR TALKS IN BONN

ZAGREB, May 16 (Hina) - After their talks in Bonn today Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel gave statements this evening, which were conveyed in the Croatian Television News Broadcasting. German Foreign Minister Kinkel said President Tudjman guaranteed that there should be no military actions any longer. "President Kohl and I urged that Croats conduct themselves toward the Serb minority in a way they are expected to do," Kinkel added. President Tudjman said he had assured his interlocutors that Croatia remained determined to reintegrate the occupied areas in a peaceful manner. 'However, I assured them that Croatia could not postpone eternally the joining of still occupied areas into the Croatian legal and constitutional system,' Tudjman added. "Therefore we shall do the utmost that through the mandate of UNCRO we can reach a peace solution, and in this regard we expect the assistance of Germany, EU and USA," Tudjman said. He said Croatia had potential to solve the problem of its occupied areas in a manner people expect from any sovereign state, and this ability of Croatia was shown in the limited action of liberating western Slavonia, according to Tudjman. "However, we will do our best that in the interest of peace and of a speedy settlement to the crisis in the former Yugoslavia we may achieve the solution in a peaceful way," he said. Commenting on possibilities that sanctions against Serbia might be lift in case of it recognize Bosnia-Herzegovina President Tudjman said he warned his interlocutors of the fact that the issue of sanctions against Serbia and the so-called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia should be linked with the joint solution to the occupied Croatian areas and to the crisis in Bosnia. According to the Croatian television's report, Minister Kinkel stressed the readiness of Germany to help Croatia in joining European integration processes.
