ZAGREB, May 11 (Hina) - The situation in the occupied parts of
Croatia remained tense. Both sides had concentrated armed forces
around all separation lines, UN spokesman Christopher Gunness told
the press conference today.
Serbs had fired two shells and opened small-arms fire at the
Croat positions in southern theatre, Gunnes said, adding the
Croatian army was still present around UN observation points in
Medak and Otocac areas.
Gunnes judged the situation in eastern Slavonia to be stable,
adding that rebel Serb units were still "imposing sharp
restrictions to UN personnel movement" in the area.
Two sides traded small-arms fire Wednesday morning, after a
Serb provocation. Serbs then fired three tank shells at the Croat
positions, but Croatian army did not respond, UN-spokesman said.
