SARAJEVO, May 4 (Hina) - The lives of six British UN soldiers
wounded in last night's Serb attack on a UN base near Maglaj,
northern Bosnia, were out of danger, although one of the soldiers
sustained serious wounds, UN spokesman Garry Coward said today. The
two soldiers who sustained most serious wounds were taken to the UN
hospital in Gornji Vakuf, he said.
According to Coward, Serbs fired a T-34 tank shell at a former
primary school in Maglaj, where British UN soldiers were stationed.
The same tank was used to attack a UNPROFOR observation point
in Maglaj three days ago.
Canadian and British soldiers responded to the attack, firing
64 cannon shells and three TOW anti-tank missiles on the Serb tank.
UN spokesman could not give precise information on the effect
of the response, but confirmed that all missiles, except for one
TOW rocket, hit the target area.
