PAKRAC, May 5 (Hina) - The Special Representative of the UN
Secretary-General, Yasushi Akashi, arrived in Pakrac this morning.
After his talks in the Pakrac police station with the Croatian
President's Office head, Hrvoje Sarinic, Interior Minister Ivan
Jarnjak, and UN commander for the former Sector West, Argentinean
General Matalon, Akashi told journalists that the Croatian side
conducted themselves fairly and correctly toward Croatian citizens
of Serb nationality in the area overlooking Pakrac that had been
occupied until yesterday.
Military and civilian monitors of the UN as well as monitors
of the EU and representatives of UNHCR confirmed this to Akashi, he
added.
