ZAGREB, Apr 4 (Hina) - The refugees were not satisfied with UN
Security Council Resolution 981, because it failed to meet their
demands, the Croatian Association of Refugees said today.
Association president, Mato Simic, told reporters about the
conclusions of yesterday's meeting of the Association steering
committee.
The Association insisted on the efficient control of Croatia's
internationally recognised borders, deadlines for the return of
refugees and the disarming of Serb paramilitary formations in the
occupied areas, Simic specified.
The Association criticised Government and Parliament officials
who publicly proposed certain solutions to refugee problems without
having consulted the Association.
"Vain promises are disturbing for refugees," Simic said.
Thus, Minister Rebic recently announced that refugees would be
moved from hotels to houses abandoned by their owners.
But Simic pointed out that such a scheme was legally too shaky
because the refugees would not have any definite tenant or other
status guaranteeing that they will be able to live safely in these
houses until their return.
