A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON WEDNESDAY

ZAGREB, March 1 (Hina) - Today's VJESNIK leads with a Presidential Office statement on yesterday's talks between President Tudjman and and the Archbishop of Sarajevo, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, under the headline "Bosnian Croats Won't Be Left On Their Own." A statement which Cardinal Puljic made after the talks was published under the headline "Preservation of (Catholic) Identity Throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina." Vjesnik also carries a front-page article on a session in Zagreb of the Sub-Committee on Human Rights of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly. The paper includes a comment piece headlined "Observers Without Frontiers", saying in part: "Can Croatia accept any of proposed deceptions? Each of them envisages Croatia admitting defeat." The other Zagreb daily, VECERNJI LIST, leads with an article headlined "Foreign Companies Come to Croatia" after a decision to sell 49.07 percent of the shares of "Nikola Tesla" to the Swedish company 'Ericsson'. Vecernji List comments on the visit by Turkish President Suleyman Demirel in an article headlined "Friendly Relations Reaffirmed." "We're Lobbying For Truth" is the headline of an interview with the president of the Croatian-American Congress, Lidija Dorkin-Grahovic, who said in part: "We'll oontinue to press for lifting the arms embargo, reintegrating occupied territories, increasing humanitarian assistance and strengthening Croatian- American relations."
