BUDAPEST, Feb 9 (Hina) - The Hungarian government rejected a
request by rebel Croatian Serbs to open the Knezev-Udvar border
crossing in UN Sector East of Croatia.
Commenting on this request in a television broadcast yesterday
evening, a senior Hungarian Foreign Ministry official said that
Hungary did not recognize the self-declared Serb Krajina region and
that the Croatian government had not asked for the crossing to be
opened.
The Croatian Ambassador in Budapest, Aleksandar Solc, said the
Hungarian government's decision showed that Hungary respected the
territorial integrity of Croatia and that it cared about good
neighbourly relations.
