OMISALJ, Jan 26 (Hina) - After the northern branch of the Adriatic
oil pipeline passing through UNPA Sector North was reopened on
Wednesday, the crude oil restarted to flow from the Omisalj
terminal, the Krk island, to Sisak, some 50 km southeast of Zagreb,
at 10:00 a.m. Thursday. The oil pipeline section from Omisalj to
Sisak is put in operation for the first time since January 1991.
There are now about 90,000 tonnes of oil in the pipeline,
according to the Director of the Adriatic pipeline's Omisalj
terminal Nikola Zuvic. For the time being the flow of oil should be
up to 1,000 cubic metres per hour.
The Adriatic oil pipeline's northern branch was reopened in
line with the 1994 December 2 Economic Agreement, signed by the
Croatian Government and representatives of rebel Serbs from UNPAs.
