ZAGREB, Jan 5 (Hina) - A UNHCR Bihac-bound convoy was to return
to Zagreb this evening because of the growing tension around
Velika Kladusa, UN spokesman Peter Kessler said.
The convoy staff were threatened by renegade Moslem forces,
whose leaders refused to give any assurances that similar armed
threats would not happen during the journey.
This prompted the UNHCR to order the ten-truck convoy, with
91 tonnes of food and medicine, to return to Zagreb from where it
had departed on Wednesday.
Since October 1, only three UN convoys have managed to
reach the Bihac pocket whose 180,000 people depend on
humanitarian aid.
Moslem separatists in Velika Kladusa are blocking a UN fuel
convoy for Bangladeshi UN troops, Kessler said.
