Recalling the reason for the boycott - the failure of the
House of Representatives to include a discussion on the so-called
Zagreb crisis in the agenda of its last session - HSLS President
Vlado Gotovac also recalled that the Opposition was willing to
return to Parliament if their request on the introduction of the
item on the functioning of local administration and self-government
into the Parliament agenda was respected.
Gotovac also mentioned that a draft state budget for 1997 was
in the Parliament procedure.
'Both sides have realized the importance of those sessions and
we have reached a compromise. The House of Counties will discuss
problems in the functioning of local administration and self-
government in the light of legal regulations', Gotovac said. The
House of Counties had accepted the Opposition request, Gotovac
said, adding the Opposition would propose a vote of no confidence
in Administration Minister Davorin Mlakar at the next session of
the House of Representatives.
