Ambassador Hewitt welcomed Croatia's constructive role in the
implementation of Bosnia peace agreement and invited President
Tudjman to a conference on the implementation of the Dayton peace
agreement, which will be held in London next month.
President Tudjman said that the Croatian delegation at the
conference would be headed by the Foreign Minister Mate Granic and
added that his presence at the conference would depend on the level
of the conference, the statement said.
Great Britain favoured a speedy implementation of the peaceful
reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area into Croatia's legal
system, Hewitt said, expressing support for the completion of the
UNTAES mandate in line with the agreement between President Tudjman
and UN Transitional Administrator Jacques Klein.
Welcoming Croatia's admission tot the Council of Europe,
Hewitt stressed that during his mandate in Croatia he had become
convinced of Croatia's affiliation to Central Europe and not to the
Balkans.
The two officials also stated that the relations between
Croatia and Great Britain were constantly improving.
