De Larosiere informed Tudjman that the EBRD had so far granted
350 US dollars for the reconstruction of Croatian infrastructure,
navigational radar system and roads.
EBRD cooperated with Croatian banks and companies and was
especially satisfied with its cooperation with the Croatian
pharmaceutical company Pliva which had proved itself on the
international market, de Larosiere said.
He expressed great satisfaction with the macro-economic
stability in Croatia, the great potential of small and middle-scale
companies and announced support in the privatization of large
companies and the financial sector, as well as in the promotion of
the efficiency of companies, the statement said.
Despite the problems in the transition from a socialist to
market economy, Croatia had achieved a great deal even during the
war, Tudjman said, stressing that the process of privatization of
large companies could be effectively implemented with the help of
international institutions such as the EBRD.
Present at the meeting were also Croatian Prime Minister
Zlatko Matesa, President's Chief-of-Staff Ivo Sanader, Finance
Minister Bozo Prka and Croatian Ambassador to Great Britain Ante
Cicin-Sain.
