ZAGREB, Nov 6 (Hina) - Tihomir Blaskic, a general of the Croatian Defense Council (HVO) indicted by the International Crimes Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), on Wednesday informed the Tribunal about his decision to appoint a new
lawyer to lead his defense in the trial which is to begin on 8 January 1997, a statement from the ICTY said.
ZAGREB, Nov 6 (Hina) - Tihomir Blaskic, a general of the Croatian
Defense Council (HVO) indicted by the International Crimes Tribunal
for Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), on Wednesday informed the Tribunal
about his decision to appoint a new lawyer to lead his defense in
the trial which is to begin on 8 January 1997, a statement from the

"The new lead defense counsel is Ante Nobilo, a member of the
Zagreb bar," the statement said.
"Simultaneously, defendant Blaskic informed the Registry that
he has dismissed the lawyers he had previously appointed, namely,
Zvonimir Hodak and Neda Pedisic, both members of the Zagreb bar,"
the statement said.
Nobilo would be assisted by the US lawyer Russel Hayman from
the 'Latham & Watkins' firm from Los Angeles, who had been
appointed on July 3 1996, the statement said.
