ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - Croatia's Foreign Minister Mate Granic
received on Wednesday a delegation of the Croatian Displaced
Persons' Association, led by its president Mato Simic.
Simic told Minister Granic about preparations for the 4th
conference of the refugees' association due to be held this weekend
in Zagreb, the Foreign Ministry said.
Granic informed the delegation of steps the Republic of
Croatia was being taking in contacts with the international
community in order to agree on the date of the end of the UNTAES
mandate and the eventual reintegration of the Croatian Danubian
area into Croatia's constitutional and legal system.
Croatia was determined in its efforts to prevent any halts in
the process of the reintegration, Granic said.
He emphasized the significance of Tuesday's agreement between
President Franjo Tudjman and the UN Transitional Administrator of
eastern Croatia, General Jacques Klein, that Croatia's rule should
be established in eastern Slavonia, Baranja and western Sirmium in
early spring 1997, whereas the UNTAES mandate would end by early
summer 1997.
