OSIJEK, Sept 11 (Hina) - The Association of Displaced Persons
said on Wednesday it would stage protest rallies in Osijek and
Vinkovci on Friday because of the inefficiency of the UN
Transitional Administration (UNTAES) in Serb-held eastern
Croatia.
The aim of the protests was "to warn the domestic and
international public that the displaced people no longer have
any will or patience to watch further developments,"
representatives of the displaced persons told a news
conference in Osijek.
Displaced persons are opposing a possible extension of
the UNTAES mandate and a general amnesty law, calling for
elections in the UN-administered area to be held by December
15, in accordance with Croatian regulations and the 1991
population census.
