BOSNIAN CROAT LEADER COMMENTS ON IZETBEGOVIC-MILOSEVIC TALKS

ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - Commenting on a meeting between Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic and Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic in Paris on Thursday, the Croat representative in the three-man Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kresimir Zubak, said that "talks are necessary if they can help stabilize the situation in the former Yugoslavia." However, Bosnian Croats would be "strongly and justifiably reserved" if the talks "expanded to include the establishment of new political structures on the territory of the former Yugoslavia," Zubak said in a prime-time Croatian Television news programme on Thursday night. "During recent trilateral talks in Sarajevo one of the items on the agenda was Izetbegovic's trip to Paris. (Bosnian Serb representative Momcilo) Krajisnik and I agreed that Izetbegovic should go to Paris, but not in his new capacity as a member of the Presidency. "According to the latest media reports, he is presenting himself in his new capacity, and one of the Dayton provisions is that all international agreements are subject to revision by new state structures," Zubak said. Asked to comment on a recent statement by the leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bozo Rajic, that this party would establish a dialogue with the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), Zubak said that the SDS, like the HDZ and the Moslem- led SDA party, had won elections in part of Bosnia-Herzegovina. "We should establish government structures of Bosnia- Herzegovina together, and therefore it is quite understandable to open inter-party talks on some political issues related to the organizing and functioning of future government bodies which were not regulated by the Dayton agreement," he added.
