The Organization for Security and Cooperation on Europe (OSCE)
Mission in Sarajevo on Tuesday issued a statement which said that
an inspection had established that all 3,398 candidates had
fulfilled conditions set by the Provisional Electoral Commission.
This means that they are not suspected of war crimes, that
they are not candidates for more than one function and that they
qualified as voters.
Two weeks ago, it was established that some 8,000 candidates
had not fulfilled all conditions, that is, that the submitted
information about them had been insufficient.
The information for most of them was never examined because
they ran as candidates for municipal bodies of authority and the
municipal elections were postponed in the meantime, while other
parties submitted information which implied that they could be
chosen for bodies of authority on higher levels.
