SARAJEVO, Aug 9 (Hina) - Yesterday's meeting of the Federation
Forum did not bring the expected results because of obstruction on
the part of the Moslem side, Federation President Kresimir Zubak
said on Friday.
"During the meeting, both sides pledged to sign two documents
- a general declaration, which was to outline the obligations of
the federal partners regarding the establishment and strengthening
of the Federation and the abolition of certain structures of the
Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-
Bosnia, and a document specifying concrete tasks in the
implementation of that plan, as well as deadlines and those
responsible for carrying them out," Zubak's office said in a
statement.
"In the presence of US Assistant Secretary of State, John
Kornbluf, international peace coordinator Carl Bildt and Croatian
Foreign Minister Mate Granic, both sides jointly arrived at the
general declaration. However, after Granic's and Bildt's departure,
the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hasan
Muratovic, denied all that had been agreed and thus affected the
results of the Forum session," the statement said.
The Croatian side was still ready to transfer competence from
Herzeg-Bosnia to the Federation if the federal partner applied the
same process to Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina bodies at the same
time, as per the Dayton Agreement, the statement said.
"At the end of the Forum session, the Bosnian side showed
their true colours by insisting that the document include the
condition that Herzeg-Bosnia be immediately abolished, justifying
this demand by political reasons. It is clear from all this that
our partner does not care about building an efficient Federation,
but to meet certain political needs," the statement said.
"We could not accede to this demand, since the Moslem side has
been trying for two years to demonise Herzeg-Bosnia instead of
seriously working on the Federation," the statement concluded.
