MOSTAR, 10 June (Hina) - Election lists with names of candidates
for the Mostar City Council have been publicized in Mostar on
Monday.
The electorate, which is to take part in the elections on
June 30, will elect 37 representatives to the City Council - 16
Croats, 16 Bosniacs and five representatives of other peoples.
The deadline for registration of candidates expired last
night, at midnight.
The Croatian Democratic Union in Bosnia-Herzegovina has put
up a list which is headed by Mijo Brajkovic, the current mayor of
the western (Croat-controlled) part of Mostar. Eastern Mostar
mayor Safet Orucevic is heading a list entitled 'For United
Mostar'.
Lists with candidates for the City Council have also been
registered by the Croatian Party of Right (headed by Kresimir
Markic), the Croatian Pure Party of Right (headed by Petar
Milic). Dragan Ziga, an independent candidate, has also
registered for the elections.
Election lists for six municipal councils - three with the
Croat majority and three with the Muslim majority - should be
publicized tomorrow.
