MOSTAR, July 1 (Hina) - After Sunday's elections in Mostar, the Bosnian Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) list of candidates competing for the Mostar Council won 26,000 votes and the "For a United Mostar" list, which groups candidates
of president Alija Izetbegovic's Democratic Action Party (SDA), Party for Bosnia- Herzegovina and the Liberal Bosniac Organization, won 28,000 votes, according to unofficial results so far.
MOSTAR, July 1 (Hina) - After Sunday's elections in Mostar, the
Bosnian Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) list of candidates
competing for the Mostar Council won 26,000 votes and the "For a
United Mostar" list, which groups candidates of president Alija
Izetbegovic's Democratic Action Party (SDA), Party for Bosnia-
Herzegovina and the Liberal Bosniac Organization, won 28,000 votes,
according to unofficial results so far. #L#
More than 90% of voters taking part in the elections gave
their votes to these two lists of candidates on Sunday.
The HDZ list got the support of most voters in the three west
(Croat-held) Mostar municipalities and the "For a United Mostar"
list got most of the support in the three east (Moslem-held) Mostar
municipalities and at polling stations abroad.
These results are for elections at the town level, at which 13
members of the future Town Council are to be chosen.
Results of elections for 24 other members of the Town Council
are still not available. They are chosen on the level of every of
the 6 Mostar municipalities (every municipality chooses 4 members
of the Mostar Council).
According to first unofficial results which were made public
by the Mostar Electoral Committee, some 60% of the 100,000
registered voters took part in the elections on Sunday.
Official results of the Mostar elections are expected to be
released on Wednesday.
