MOSTAR, June 20 (Hina) - The EU administrator of Mostar, Ricardo
Perez Casado, on Thursday held closed-door talks with local Croat
and Moslem officials on the safety of voters who would participate
in municipal elections later this month.
Casado asked that both mayors, or their deputies, be available
on election day to solve possible crisis situations, the vice
president of the Municipal Council of Croat-held west Mostar, Mile
Puljic, said after the meeting.
Pulic said that the EU administration proposed that polling
stations, the number of which has not been determined yet, should
be as close to the former line of separation as possible for
security reasons.
"We have agreed that buses taking voters from one end of the
town to the other will be escorted by joint police patrols made up
of officers from west and east Mostar and Western European police,"
he said.
Puljic announced that the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-
Herzegovina (HDZ B-H) would hold its first election rally in Mostar
on June 24.
Later on, Casado discussed the same issue with Federation
Interior Minister Avdo Hebib and his deputy Jozo Leutar.
