ZAGREB, 13 June (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Thursday received the head of the U.N. Transitional Administration
in Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srijem (UNTAES), Jacques
Paul Klein, a statement from the President's Office said.
General Klein informed President Tudjman about the process of
peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, in particular
about the demilitarization process in the area. President Tudjman
said he was satisfied with cooperation between General Klein and
his associates and the Croatian authorities. Croatia wanted the
process of peaceful reintegration to be completed within the
framework of the UNTAES mandate of one year, as it was in the
interest of the local population, President Tudjman added.
Present at the talks at President Tudjman's side were also
Vice Premier Ivica Kostovic, General Zvonimir Cervenko, deputy to
the President's Chief-Of-Staff, Vesna Skare-Ozbolt, and the head of
the government Office of Temporary Administration, Ivica Vrkic, the
statement said.
