The three ministers discussed options for economic cooperation
in reconstruction and development programs targeted at war-damaged
areas of Croatia. The emphasis was laid on intensifying cooperation
in eastern Slavonia, Baranja and western Srijem, which would
provide a sound economic basis for the peaceful integration of that
region.
Experts with the Hungarian Agency for Stimulating Investments
and their Croatian and Bavarian colleagues would soon meet to
define concrete steps in that direction, the statement said.
Bavarian Commerce Minister Otto Wicheau announced that
Bavarian companies were considering relocating certain plants to
Croatia. Some plants have already been relocated to Hungary.
The three ministers agreed that the financial assistance
promised by the European Union for the reconstruction of
infrastructure and communications in the now occupied areas would
be essential for carrying out that plan.
