GENEVA, June 2 (Hina) - The first in a line of talks about the
implementation of the Dayton peace agreement which Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman held in Geneva on Sunday was with Swiss
Foreign Minister and president of the Organization for Security and
Organization in Europe (OSCE) Flavio Cotti. #L#
The talks focused on creating conditions for implementing
general elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina, under conditions and
within time-limits envisaged by the Dayton accords.
Tudjman and Cotti stressed the importance of holding the
elections for overall peace in Bosnia.
As OSCE is responsible for the evaluation of political and
other conditions, including the decision on scheduling the
elections, Sunday's talks should initiate the resolution of
problems which objectively hinder the elections or make them
politically unacceptable.
OSCE should, in line with the Dayton Agreement, decide on
scheduling elections in Bosnia by June 14 if they are to be held in
September as had been agreed.
This was the last chance for inducing pressure in order to
create conditions for holding elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina
within the envisaged time-limits, Cotti said after talks with
Tudjman.
The talks also tackled some bilateral issues, and Croatia's
wish to join European integrations, starting with the Council of
Europe, was reiterated.
