visited three factories which are part of the Koncar electrical
manufacturing company in Zagreb. #L#
The three factories were the most successful ones in Koncar,
Koncar's managing director Vjekoslav Srb said.
More than 70% of the Distribution and Special Transformers
factory and the Measuring Transformers factory are owned by Koncar,
and 51% of the Energy Transformers factory is owned by the Siemens
concern.
After Tudjman made a tour of the three factories and after he
got acquainted with the processes of manufacturing and its
possibilities, he told reporters that the managers had informed him
that the factories had, since 1990, at the beginning of
establishment of the independent and sovereign Croatia, realized
their sales of DM 16,000 per employee on average, which amounted to
DM 100,000 last year.
The Koncar companies are world renown and are among the ten of
most famous companies in Europe.
They export their products to western and central Europe,
Malaysia, Philippines, China... This is something Croatia could be
proud of, Tudjman said..
Tudjman held talks with Koncar's managers and watched a film
"75 years of Koncar".
He opened the new and modern factory for manufacturing
sterilized dairy products of the biggest and most important
Croatian milk and dairy products manufacturer, Dukat Dairy Zagreb.
Dukat Dairy Zagreb invested into the new and modernized
factory more than DM 30 million.
The investment is to increase productivity three times,
increase the export of sterile dairy products of high quality,
expand the produce assortment, and enable more practical packaging
methods, the president of the Dukat management board, Ivan Purgar,
said.
The Dukat Dairy Zagreb covers a third of the Croatian market
with more than 60 products and it employs 970 workers.
After a tour of the new factory, Tudjman said that it was
outstanding and, in his opinion, one of the most modern ones in
Europe.
