President Tudjman was accompanied by Defence Minister Gojko
Susak, Zagreb Mayor Marina Matulovic-Dropulic, HDZ secretary-
general Ivan Valent, the President's social activities advisor
Zlatko Canjuga and the President's aide Kresimir Kaspar.
Chairman of the Croatian Federation of Trade Unions, Niko
Gunjina, joined the President in his walk through Maksimir.
President Tudjman then met another labour leader, Boris Kunst,
and ate a plateful of beans in his company.
Joining a celebration organised by the Federation of
Independent Trade Unions and its chairman Davor Juric, President
Tudjman wished the gathered citizens a happy Labour Day.
"It's become a tradition for me to spend Labour Day among the
people. I feel good among Croatian workers and the citizens of
Zagreb," President Tudjman shared.
"Every year, we are increasing the Croatian freedom and
democracy. Our country has not yet achieved the desired level of
welfare, but we will achieve it," he concluded.
Mayor Matulovic-Dropulic assured the citizens of Zagreb that
their lives were about to take a turn for the better.
"We are all working to ensure better living conditions for
workers and retirees. I believe that all the citizens will be
happy," she concluded.
