PRESIDENT TUDJMAN RECEIVES JOHN KORNBLUM - STATEMENT

ZAGREB, 22 May (Hina) - Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman on Wednesday received John Kornblum, aide to the U.S. Secretary of State for Europe and Canada, a statement from the President's Office said.
ZAGREB, 22 May (Hina) - Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman on Wednesday received John Kornblum, aide to the U.S. Secretary of State for Europe and Canada, a statement from the President's Office said. #L# President Tudjman expressed satisfaction with the course of the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, particularly with the efficiency of the Temporary Administrator of the area, General Jacques Paul Klein. The two sides expressed determination to fully implement the Dayton peace agreements, especially the agreement on the strengthening of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The talks stressed the necessity of organizing Mostar elections and general Bosnian elections in time and in line with the peace agreement. Kornblum stressed Croatia's positive role at a meeting of the Forum for the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina held recently in Washington. President Tudjman expressed satisfaction with the fact that the partnership between Croatia and the United States would be confirmed and strengthened on the economic plane as well. The forthcoming visit of the U.S. Finance Minister Kantor to Croatia would contribute to the intensification of that partnership, President Tudjman said. Today's meeting between President Tudjman and Mr Kornblum was attended by Foreign Minister Mate Granic, Defence Minister Gojko Susak, Ambassador to the United States, Miomir Zuzul, President Tudjman's advisor on foreign affairs, Zeljko Matic, and the head of the President's military cabinet, Lieutenant General Miljenko Crnjac. The U.S. delegation included the U.S. Ambassador to Croatia, Peter Galbraith, Colonel Robert Lowe and Major Joseph Pritchard of the Defence Secretary Office, and James Swigert, Rosemarie Pauli- Gikas and Elisabeth Prior of the State Department.
