ZAGREB, May 20 (Hina) - The Zagreb-based daily VJESNIK runs a
front-page story in its Monday edition on elections in the
southwestern Bosnian city of Mostar.
The article says that Mostar's European Union administration
is apparently giving in to Bosnian Moslem pressure to put off the
elections set for 31 May.
In an article headlined "Who Has Put Croatia on Ice and
Why?", Vjesnik's editor in chief argues that the postponement of
Croatia's admission to the Council of Europe is aimed to force
Croatia to make new concessions in Bosnia.
The paper covers the first convention of the Federation of
Croatian Disabled War Veterans (HVIDRA) in an article headlined
"State Budget to Be Revised to HVIDRA's Benefit."
Vjesnik includes an interview with Bosnian Federation
Interior Minister Avdo Hebib, under the headline "I Can't Get
Over the Fact that I Had to Release (breakaway Croatian Serb
leader) Milan Martic."
Another Zagreb-based daily VECERNJI LIST comments on a
decision by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in
Europe to postpone until mid-June the calling of elections in
Bosnia, in an article headlined "Are Bosnian Elections Being
Delayed?"
European pre-election games in Mostar and Bosnia is the
subject of a Vecernji List article headlined "Can Croats Trust
Them?"
"Secret of an Inexpensive House" is the headline of an
article on reconstruction projects for the still occupied area of
eastern Croatia. It says that of 98 bidders, 50 are prepared to
build and equip a family house of 80 square metres in area for
only 200,000 kuna (about DM 55,000).
