"We do not accept elections which are a charade, a fraud and a
legalization of the present situation. We will not participate in
something for which we will be ashamed," Tuesday's statement from
the association of opposition parties said.
Such an attitude and is supported by the former premier and
the president of the Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Haris Silajdzic.
The deputy president of the party, Muharem Cero, said that
electoral rights had to be guaranteed for all citizens of Mostar
whether they were in the town or not.
"without such an attitude the election results are prejudiced,
as well as the integration of Mostar and the whole of Bosnia-
Herzegovina," Cero said, adding that the Dayton accords indubitably
guaranteed the rights of refugees to vote, which was rejected by
the European Union with its decisions.
The Democratic Action Party (SDA) has already asked that the
elections be organized in Bosnian consulates or embassies.
The daily "Dnevni Avaz" in Wednesday's editorial writes that
Europe had already packed its suitcases in Mostar and warns that
the splitting of the town could present an introduction for the
splitting of the whole Federation.
The Sarajevo daily "Oslobodjenje" writes that the September
elections would be partially determined by the present situation in
Mostar, and stresses that the splitting of Mostar could be a strong
incentive for splitting the whole of Bosnia.
