She held talks with UN High Commissioner for human rights,
Jose Ayal Lass on the human rights situation in Croatia.
The talks had tackled the return of Serbs to Croatia, Hodak
told reporters, stressing that she had warned of "the need to
relate this problem to the problem of freedom of movement and the
return of all, as well as Croats and other non-Serbs to the area of
eastern Slavonia".
Speaking of the freedom of media in Croatia, Hodak said that
she had informed Lass about the fact that "a large number of papers
are active in Croatia, papers which are being treated as
independent by the domestic as well as foreign public, and which
harshly criticize the Croatian government".
The Croatian government planned to introduce human rights
education in primary and high schools, as well as in faculties,
Hodak said.
