Yugoslavia, Elisabeth Rehn and the head of the American delegation at the annual conference of the Human Rights Commission, Geraldine Ferraro.
GENEVA, 15 April (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan
Simonovic and Croatia's permanent representative to the United
Nations in Geneva, Neven Madey, on Monday met with the Special
Rapporteur on human rights in former Yugoslavia, Elisabeth Rehn and
the head of the American delegation at the annual conference of the
Human Rights Commission, Geraldine Ferraro. #L#
The talks focused on the latest report by Elisabeth Rehn on
human rights in former Yugoslavia and her plans to visit the area
again. Problems of imprisoned and missing persons were discussed as
well.
Rehn and Ferraro supported Croatia's proposal that talks on a
bilateral agreement on the protection of minorities be held with
Yugoslav authorities.
Simonovic and Madey also met with U.N. Human Rights Centre
representatives and discussed with them a visit of the U.N. High
Commissioner for human rights Jose Ayal Lasso to Croatia and former
Yugoslavia, which was announced for May.
