After his arrival at Zagreb airport, Cardinal Kuharic said
that he was satisfied with his visit to the Croat parishes in
Canada and the U.S.A.
Cardinal Kuharic also attended a celebration of the 75th
anniversary of the Croat Catholic community in the U.S.A. and
Canada in Chicago.
Asked about the role of the Croat Catholic community in the
U.S.A. and Canada, Cardinal Kuharic said that in the past 75 years,
the community, like the Croatian Fraternal Union and other emigrant
organizations, had been gathering Croats living in diaspora. The
Croat Catholic community gathered Croat emigrants primarily
according to the principles of faith. It had been established with
the aim to provide help for the needy, but it was also a
humanitarian organization which tried to establish closer ties
among Croat emigrants, Cardinal Kuharic said.
