ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - A Commission for Human Rights of the Serb
Community in Croatia on Monday proposed the withdrawal of a Bill on
Education in Languages of Ethnic and National Communities or
Minorities, directed by the Croatian Government for a first reading
at a forthcoming session of the Croatian Parliament.
The Commission outlined several complaints regarding the bill
and proposed the scheduling of an advisory referendum on the most
important elements of the bill.
The "temporary suspension of constitutional law (on the rights
of national minorities) renders the enforcement of the proposed
legal provisions impossible", the Commission concluded in its
public statement.
