ZAGREB, April 30 (Hina) - The Zagreb-based daily VJESNIK runs a
front-page article in its Tuesday edition saying that Croatian
Helsinki Committee president Ivan Zvonimir Cicak worked for the
national security service of the former Yugoslavia.
The article, headlined "Ivan Zvonimir Cicak Works for UDBA As
Early As 1966", says that documents seized during Operation Storm
in August last year "undoubtedly show" that Cicak worked for the
Yugoslav security service (UDBA) under the pseudonomym of "Bak".
"Opposition Representatives Not Travelling to Germany on May
6" is the headline of a Vjesnik article saying that major
opposition parties in Croatia agreed on Monday not to travel to
Bonn on May 6 for three-day political talks at the invitation of
German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel.
Vjesnik reveals that the opposition leaders did not turn down
Kinkel's invitation but that they believe that such a meeting
should be held "at a more convenient time."
Another Zagreb-based daily VECERNJI LIST runs an article on
the occasion of the first anniversary of Croatian police and
military operation "Flash" which started on May 1 last year and
crushed Serb rebellion in Western Slavonia.
Vecernji List comments on the invitation to the opposition
leaders to visit Bonn under the headline "Risky Trip to Bonn."
The paper carries an interview with the president of the
Croatian Party of Right, Anto Djapic, under the headline "We Don't
Renounce Bosnia."
