The new navigation equipment was purchased with a 22-million-
dollar loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development in London, allocated to Croatia in 1995, Pean said. The
value of the equipment is some 2,3 million dollars and it was
produced in the well-known 'Wilcox' company from Cansas City,
U.S.A.
WORD/DME and ILS equipment will put the flight control at
Dubrovnik airport at the level of equipment better than the pre-war
equipment, because it is a navigation package of the latest
generation. The equipment includes directed radio-lights (Wor)
which lead the plane accurately to the airport, while the DME
informs the pilot about the exact distance from the runway. The ILS
takes over the plane and leads it until the landing. The
instruments would be installed in mid June, Pean said.
