$ IGATION COMMISSION SAYS
DUBROVNIK, 10 April (Hina) - Mario Sarinic, spokesman for the
Croatian Transport Ministry's commission for investigating the U.S.
plane crash which happened last Wednesday near Dubrovnik, today
said that 'landing at Dubrovnik airport is completely safe'. #L#
'Several days after the crash, the Croatian-American
investigation commission asked from the U.S. federal air traffic
authorities to test radio and navigation instruments serving
Dubrovnik airport. After a number of test flights, the equipment
has been found completely safe. Preliminary results of the
investigation showed that the plane had not been on the prescribed
path', Sarinic said.
He added 'Boeing 737' planes had made more than 3,000 flights
over the airport since it reopened to regular traffic in 1992.
Dubrovnik airport opened in 1962 and since then there had not
been a single accident. The U.S. plane crash had been caused
neither by a technical fault or technical malfunction of radio and
navigation instruments nor of Dubrovnik airport.
