The celebration of Christ's resurrection is the announcement
of peace which Christ made to his followers, Cardinal Kuharic said,
calling on all believers to join in the prayer for all wounded and
displaced and especially for the victims of Dubrovnik tragedy.
Cardinal Kuharic offered his condolences to the families of the
U.S. minister Ronald Brown and the two Croatian nationals who were
killed in the Wednesday plane crash.
With his resurrection, Christ made himself permanently present
and he became hope for all those who suffer from incurable
diseases, for the oppressed, wounded and those who grieve.
'There was no time in history, like the one we are living in,
that has brought us so far away from Christ', Kuharic said.
'The sin is forgiven with God's love and that love he
confirmed with suffering, death and resurrection. Christ came back
to life to change all creatures, to create a new heaven, new earth
and a new man'.
May all people in Croatia and the world find peace in their
hearts, families and homes, Cardinal Kuharic said at the end of the
ceremony.
Easter celebrations were also held in Split, Dubrovnik, Hvar,
Gospic and Knin.
