WASHINGTON, March 26 (Hina) - Croatia's ambassador to the United
States, Miomir Zuzul, met in Washington on Tuesday with the US
Assistant Defence Secretary for international security, Franklin
Kramer, to discuss Croatia's application for membership in NATO's
Partnership for Peace program.
The Croatian application would be one of the topics discussed
during US Defence Secretary William Perry's visit to Croatia later
this week.
The United States would support Croatia's Partnership for
Peace application which was expected to be considered at a NATO
ministerial meeting in Berlin in June.
Last week, Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic sent a letter
to NATO Secretary General Javier Solana informing him that Croatia
accepted conditions for membership in the program.
Zuzul and Kramer also discussed the process of reintegration
of the Croatian Danubian area and the need for strengthening the
Croat-Moslem Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Zuzul said that Croatia would continue helping in the
implementation of all aspects of the US-sponsored Dayton peace
agreement.
Zuzul relayed thanks from Croatian President Franjo Tudjman
for the treatment of Croatian Defence Minister Gojko Susak in an
army medical centre in Washington.
