West's statement followed his talks with the Croatian
Defence Minister, Gojko Susak, which focused on further
cooperation between the two countries.
"I think that further cooperation is the wish of both
America and Croatia. The NATO decision-making procedure in based
on the principle of consensus. This is a process which must take
its course. We support this (Croatia's efforts to join
Partnership for Peace) and I am here to show this support," West
said.
He expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between the
two countries.
"So far, both our countries have been able to fulfill their
promises. With the help and cooperation of the United States of
America, this promise (to support Croatia's admission to
Partnership for Peace) will also be fulfilled, which is the aim
of my visit," West said.
West stopped in Zagerb on his way to visit the U.S troops
deployed in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Hungary.
