ZAGREB, March 21 (Hina) - A session of the Zagreb City Assembly, which started at 10 am today, was postponed until 12 o'clock. The President of the Zagreb City Assembly, Zdravko Tomac, said that the Alliance had asked for a two-hour
break so that it could consider this morning's decision, which arrived from President Tudjman's Office. President Tudjman refused to confirm the election of Ivo Skrabalo (Croatian Social-Liberal Party, HSLS) to the post of Zagreb Mayor and Zagreb County Prefect as well as the election of Vjekoslav Silic (Social-Democratic Party, SDP) and Antun Sporer (Croatian Peasants' Party, HSS) to the post of Zagreb Deputy Mayors.

Tomac further said that 13 representatives of the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) had submitted a written proposal that he be
relieved from his duty of Zagreb City Assembly President. According
to HDZ representatives, Tomac had overstepped the authority of
Zagreb City Assembly President by sending a letter to the President
of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly without previous
consultation with all councilors.
The Alliance of seven Opposition parties opposed the proposal
that Marina Matulovic-Dropulic participate in a discussion on
amendments to the city budget, because, Tomac said, she had
received a vote of no confidence at the last session of the City
Assembly.
