SARAJEVO, Feb 29 (Hina) - Bosnian Federation president Kresimir
Zubak met IFOR commander Admiral Leighton Smith in Sarajevo on
Thursday for talks on the transfer of authority in formerly Serb-
held districts of Sarajevo that had reverted to Federation
control under a US-sponsored peace agreement.
Zubak and Smith agreed in assessment that Bosnian government
police that had entered Sarajevo suburbs had not been set up in
line with an agreement on the structure of the Federation police
force, reached during the Rome meeting of the presidents of
Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia, Zubak's office said in a
statement.
Zubak stressed that 3,500 Sarajevo Croats, who had fled the
Serb-held suburb of Ilidza and found refuge in Kiseljak, demanded
that a police force that was to take control of Ilidza be set up
in accordance with the Rome agreement.
Smith pledged he would support and respect the agreed way of
organizing and structuring the federal police.
