ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - Negotiating committees of the Croatian Railway Workers' Union, the Independent Union of Railway Construction and Maintenance Workers and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications have come
close in their standpoints at tonight's negotiations, a statement from the main strikers' committee said tonight.
ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - Negotiating committees of the Croatian
Railway Workers' Union, the Independent Union of Railway
Construction and Maintenance Workers and the Ministry of Maritime
Affairs, Transport and Communications have come close in their
standpoints at tonight's negotiations, a statement from the main
strikers' committee said tonight. #L#
The statement, signed by the head of the strikers' committee,
Zlatko Pavletic, said that 'the unions have been offered a 7,98%
raise in wages by June 1996 (payment in July), and a 12,03% raise
in wages as of July, which makes an average raise of 10%'.
'Bearing in mind the current economic situation but also the
social status of railway workers and with the wish to reach
agreement as soon as possible, the Unions' Negotiating Committee
demanded a 20% raise in wages', the statement said, adding the
negotiations would continue tomorrow.
