They discussed the return of the displaced people to eastern
Slavonia, Baranja, a western Syrmium and to the areas liberated
during the military operation "Storm", Shattuck told reporters
after the meeting.
Also discussed was a government Bill on cooperation between
Croatia and the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague
(ICTY), which would soon be brought to the Croatian Sabor
(parliament).
Mintas-Hodak said that Shattuck had reassured her and Kostovic
that the international community and The Hague Tribunal would exert
additional pressure on Serbia in order to have the Serb war
criminals apprehended.
A government official in charge for refugees and displaced
persons, Damir Zoric, who also attended the meeting, has given to
Shattuck a list containing names of 2,007 persons of Serb
nationality whose return to Croatia had been approved. The permits
were issued on grounds of family reunion.
