WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (Hina) - Newly appointed Croatian Ambassador to the United States, Miomir Zuzul, handed on Tuesday his credentials to U.S. President Bill Clinton, Croatian Embassy said in a statement.

While handing his credentials in the White House's Oval
Office, Zuzul said he was honored to be an envoy to a country which
had so much contributed to the peace in Croatia and Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
He stressed that Croatia was completely determined to
implement the Dayton accords, to peacefully reintegrate Croatian
Danube area and to take part in breathing life to the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
He also underscored that Croatia was anxious to continue to
build its partnership with the United States, adding that numerous
Croatian diaspora in the U.S. might strengthen ties between the two
countries.
President Clinton recalled his recent visit to Zagreb and said
he was delighted by the warm welcome, adding it had reflected the
strong relations which have developed between the U.S. and Croatia.
He stressed it was fundamental that Croatia remains determined
to peace, and said that the U.S. also wanted to closely cooperate
with Croatia as well as to build a deep and lasting friendship
between the two nations.
"While Croatia is taking its place in the community of western
nations, we are looking forward to extend our ties in all
directions," the statement quoted Clinton as saying, and adding
that modern Croatia was a young state but also a nation with a deep
and rich history.
