ZAGREB, Feb 8 (Hina) - The Hungarian IFOR engineering unit would
repair the destroyed Sava river bridge connecting Stara Gradiska
and Bosanska Gradiska (120 km east of Zagreb), spokesman for the
Hungarian IFOR troops in Pustare near Okucani, Major Emil Varadi,
told by phone to the Croatian news agency Hina. #L#
The Hungarian engineers would not reconstruct the bridge, but
only fix it. Its reconstruction depended on Croatia and Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Varadi said, adding that the bridge would be repaired
on the basis of British projects for 'Mabey-Johnson' type of
bridge.
The Hungarian soldiers had started cleaning the northern,
Croatian bank of the Sava and they had not found any unexploded
mines, Varadi said, adding they knew that there were mines on the
Bosnian Sava bank. A ferry would be used to cross the river at the
beginning and a pontoon bridge would be built later on, Varadi
added.
The Hungarian IFOR soldiers would cooperate with the members
of the 2nd light infantry unit of the British IFOR 4th division,
which controlled the Bosnian bank of the Sava, Varadi said.
