agreement. #L#
The current behaviour of the Serb side would not help the
peace process, IFOR spokesman Marc Rayner told reporters,
commenting on the decision of the Serb authorities in Pale to stop
further talks on the implementation of the Dayton agreement due to
the arrest of two high-ranking army officers of the Bosnian Serb
army.
UN spokesman Alexander Ivanko confirmed that representatives
of the international police force had visited the arrested Serb
officers yesterday.
The Bosnian police arrested six Serb army officers who are now
in the central prison in Sarajevo. General Djordje Djukic and
Colonel Aleksa Krsmanovic are among the arrested.
Ivanko said that the prisoners were being treated correctly.
General Djukic said that the prison authorities allowed medical
treatment he had asked. The prisoners were also visited by the
members of the International Committee of the Red Cross, but so far
they have not been allowed to talk with them without the presence
of prison guards.
Investigators of the International Criminal Tribunal for the
Former Yugoslavian (ICTY) have started an investigation into
charges the Bosnian state authorities had brought against the Serb
officers.
