MOSTAR, Jan 11 (Hina) - The commander of IFOR ground troops in
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Gen. Michael Walker, visited IFOR troops in
the southern town of Mostar on Thursday.
Walker also met the European Union adminstrator of Mostar,
Hans Koschnik, for talks on the situation in the area.
Walker told reporters that the NATO-led Implementation Force
must concentrate only on the implementation of military
provisions of the Dayton peace agreement.
He stressed that problems must be resolved by political
leaderships while IFOR must focus its efforts on the zone of
separation between Bosnia-Herzegovina's two entities - the
Moslem-Croat federation and the Serb republic.
Commenting on recently increased tensions between the town's
Moslem and Croat communities, Walker said that IFOR could not
ignore events not envisaged by the peace agreement.
Koschnik said that "we have to overcome difficulties
together."
