MOSTAR, Feb 7 (Hina) - Angered by European Union Mostar
administrator's decision about the future political organization of
the divided city, local Bosnian Croat authorities Wednesday
announced that as of today, they will cancel all ties with the EU
mission.
Following is the text of a statement read by western (Croat-
held) Mostar Mayor Mijo Brajkovic, in response to the administrator
Hans Koschnick's decision.
"In flagrant violation of the Dayton agreement, the European
Union administrator Mr Hans Koschnick created the seventh
municipality in Mostar, namely the fourth Muslim district with the
majority of Muslim population.
"Giving in to the pressure by a part of the world community,
anxious to settle the situation in Mostar in an unnatural manner
and against the will of one whole people. Led by his own interests
Mr Koschnick and the European Union have absolutely yielded to the
pressures by the Muslim side, dissatisfied with the Dayton accords.
"Denying and erasing all of the real and grounded proposals by
the Croat side, by creating some central zone, Mr Koschnick and the
European Union have absolutely taken a side.
"The Mostar Municipal Council is of the view that the mission
of the European administration has thus definitely
ended, while administrator Koshnick has, by his decision, in fact
divided the city in two.
"The Municipal Council, with a support from political
authorities and the people in Mostar, this way announces that all
ties with the European Union are canceled," the statement said.
