WASHINGTON, Feb 6 (Hina) - U.S. Administration, Tuesday assessed
that the Government of Bosnia-Herzegovina had taken adequate
measures in the conduct toward eight Serb officers and soldiers,
whom it had captured several days ago under suspicion of having
committed war crimes. #L#
"We believe that the Bosnian Government has taken adequate
measures in this case after the arrest," a State Department
spokesman, Glyn Davies, said.
Davies said that officials of International War Crimes
Tribunal for former Yugoslavia were at the moment in Sarajevo for
talks with detainees in order to see whether there were reasons for
further investigation.
'Bosnian Government said it would obey the decision of the
Tribunal, and it depends on the Tribunal's request whether the
Government will continue to detain those persons or release them in
case there is no proof on war crimes,' Davies said.
Bosnian Serb leaders announced on Tuesday that they had broken
off all contacts with the Bosnian Federation authorities, due to
the arrest of Serb officers, according to Reuters. The same agency
said Serbs would not appear at sessions in the area of the Bosnian
Federation as long as the Serb officers had not been set free.
