Clinton should have landed at the Dubrave airport before 08:00
am Saturday, but heavy fog postponed his tour to Tuzla for 01:30 pm
Saturday.
Clinton was accompanied by US Congress and White House
members, US Ambassador to UN Madeleine Albright, Assistant
Secretary of State Richard Holbrooke, US Armed Force headquarters
chief General John Shalikashvili, NATO Commander for Europe General
George Joulwan, IFOR Commander Admiral Leighton Smith and IFOR
ground troops commander General Michael Walker.
Addressing US troops at the base Clinton said "Your country is
proud of you." 'You are here to help peoples in Bosnia-Herzegovina
to remain committed to what they have chosen, and it is peace,' he
added.
In Tuzla US President talked with the Bosnian delegation led
by President Alija Izetbegovic and the Federation's President
Kresimir Zubak. The delegation included also Bosnia's Roman
Catholic Cardinal Vinko Puljic, the Banja Luka Bishop Franjo
Komarica, the Novi Travnik Mayor Josip Udovicic and the mayor of
Ilidza (still Serb-held Sarajevo suburb) Nedjeljko Prstojevic. The
talks were held behind the closed doors.
